What if there was a house in Dune from Indian Origins?
When I watched to see Dune 2 at an IMAX, I was thrilled by the production design and the amount of detail that has been put to align the sc-fi novel written in the 60s likeable to a 2023 audience. Apart from the magnificent sound design and cinematography, one thing that amazed me is the reference of our current world. For example there is house Attreides who comes from Greek Origin, Harkonens reminds us fo Nazis and Fremens clearly resembles the Middle-Eastern Bedouin tribes.
Being a boy who grew up in India, I couldn't stop myself from imagining how would it be if there was House/ Planet in Dune who came from Indian Origins.
After a week of passive imagining, I decided that this house should come from the bloodlines of the Mauryas, one of the golden periods in Indian History. I crafted a story which will fit into the Dune Universe, putting Indian References from Indian History and Mythology, and created the House of Mauryans.
The Governor of planet Kailsh goes by the title Prajapati, and if it ever comes to live-action, Hritik Roshan would be the best actor to match the concepts. I also chose Aishwarya Rai as the worthy actor for the Reverend Mother of Kailash called ‘ Khawna’, inspired by the famous astrologer in Indian History who was excellent in predicting events.
The Mauryans have an army of ‘Vajra Sentinels’ who are the only threat to the infamous Sardaukars of the Emperor, they carries their hover-boats which looks like their house sygil- a full bloomed lotus.
The Mauryans also hosts a massive fleet of ships which makes them a Space Superpower. It is said that when they joined the holy war on Arrakis, the planet suffered tectonic level damages when the Mauryan Fleet force-landed.
The capital of Kailash is called Prana-Dome. Being a military superpower this city is also the biggest academic centre for Quantam-Tanric sciences and Interstellar Arts.
The Prajapati travel with the massive mega-ship Pushpak which is made from premium Lankan-Gold which makes it the most durable and safest ships over the universe.
